Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall D+
ValueA NeedB+ TradesF FutureB
Larceny in the 194th pick lands the 49ers a D+, Sanders and all.

Call it larceny. T.J. Sanders sat on the board until the Round 6 slot, and the 49ers did not need to be asked twice. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D+.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Wyatt Milum
In pick No. 20 they get a long-term starter on the line, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick50 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
They barely believed it either: Walter Nolen still on the board at slot 50. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick51 Rnd2 Josaiah Stewart
The board fumbled Josaiah Stewart all the way to pick 51, and they scooped it up. The roster fit checks out.
Pick82 Rnd3 Harold Fannin Jr.
Harold Fannin Jr. at the 82nd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick101 Rnd3 Tate Ratledge
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Tate Ratledge in No. 101, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick119 Rnd4 Nick Emmanwori
Circle this one: Nick Emmanwori at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick120 Rnd4 Domani Jackson
Steal is underselling it; Domani Jackson at Round 4, Pick 19 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick138 Rnd4 Jake Majors
Jake Majors at the 138th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick166 Rnd5 Smael Mondon Jr.
A linebacker of that caliber at No. 166 is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.
Pick194 Rnd6 T.J. Sanders
T.J. Sanders in slot 194 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick237 Rnd7 J.Michael Sturdivant
You do not let a wide receiver like J.Michael Sturdivant reach the 237th pick and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick242 Rnd7 Kyle Kennard
Kyle Kennard in pick 242 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
