Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Steelers this weekend: B+.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Steelers took Jalen Milroe a full 32 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. However the rest shakes out, Skattebo at that price is a win they earned.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In the 31st overall pick they get a disruptive interior force, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick63 Rnd2 Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe at pick 63 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick83 Rnd3 Darien Porter
A tidy little value on Darien Porter in the Round 3 slot, a step better than break-even. The roster fit checks out.
Pick123 Rnd4 Chimere Dike
Circle this one: Chimere Dike at No. 123 is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick133 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at pick No. 133 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick156 Rnd5 Hollin Pierce
Hollin Pierce at slot 156 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick185 Rnd6 Nazir Stackhouse
They left a pile of value on the table to take Nazir Stackhouse this early at No. 185. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick229 Rnd7 Caleb Ransaw
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Caleb Ransaw in pick No. 229, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
