The Bills cashed the board's mistake on Rourke: B-.

When a board-topper like Kurtis Rourke slides to pick 170, you do not overthink it, and the Bills did not. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. The Bills indulged a want in Dotson while a need in linebacker, offensive lineman and other spots stayed open. If Cross III pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a disruptive interior force, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick56 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Value with a capital V on Xavier Watts in the Round 2 slot, a genuine coup. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick62 Rnd2 Maxwell Hairston
They paid up for Maxwell Hairston at pick No. 62 when waiting would have done the job. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.

They paid sticker price for Joshua Farmer in the 109th overall pick, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.

Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Mello Dotson adds a cornerback and leaves linebacker, offensive lineman and other spots untouched.

They took Kyle Williams at par in the 169th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
