Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureA
The Raiders finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a D.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Raiders, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.

The whole projection now runs through Fernando Mendoza; hit there and everything else looks smarter. With edge rusher, running back and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The cost of the Benny reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

The Chambliss pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In pick 2 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Colton Hood
Colton Hood in the 33rd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick62 Rnd2 Elijah Sarratt
A slide stopped in No. 62, with Elijah Sarratt worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Michael Taaffe
Michael Taaffe at slot 67 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick102 Rnd4 Xavier Chaplin
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Xavier Chaplin. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick111 Rnd4 Chris Johnson
Chris Johnson at pick No. 111 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick136 Rnd4 Bray Hubbard
A curious use of the 136th overall pick. Edge rusher, running back and other spots needed the pick; a safety in Bray Hubbard did not.
Pick173 Rnd5 Kyle Louis
A tidy little value on Kyle Louis in Round 5, Pick 33, a step better than break-even. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick183 Rnd6 Rayshaun Benny
A reach on Rayshaun Benny in the Round 6 slot; the board had better options right there. The roster fit checks out.
Pick187 Rnd6 Gracen Halton
They went early on Gracen Halton in slot 187, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick217 Rnd7 Trinidad Chambliss
Trinidad Chambliss at pick No. 217 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
