Draft Grade — Raiders

FutureB-
The Raiders checked most of the boxes and earned a B. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Raiders spent the 224th overall pick on Barryn Sorrell, a name the board had a full 88 spots lower. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
On value alone, Jones Jr. makes the weekend a net positive. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Ashton Jeanty
In slot 6 they get a three-down runner. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick37
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Emeka Egbuka in pick 37. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick68
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
They took Maxwell Hairston at par in pick No. 68, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick73
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
A conviction pick on Andrew Mukuba at No. 73 that the board grades a round light. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick107
Rnd4
Kyle McCord
They jumped the gun on Kyle McCord, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick144
Rnd5
Aeneas Peebles
They did well to land Aeneas Peebles in the 144th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick182
Rnd6
Emery Jones Jr.
Emery Jones Jr. in the 182nd overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick214
Rnd6
Antwane Wells Jr.
Circle this one: Antwane Wells Jr. at No. 214 is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick218
Rnd6
Cooper Mays
They reached into another round for Cooper Mays, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick224
Rnd7
Barryn Sorrell
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Barryn Sorrell well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
