Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers cashed the board's mistake on Cowing: B-.

You build a draft on nights like this. Jacob Cowing had no business being available in slot 178, and the Steelers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

If Hall pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The Steelers indulged a want in Frazier while a need in quarterback, safety and other spots stayed open.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
Amarius Mims in pick No. 20 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick51 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback, safety and other spots to take Zach Frazier, an offensive lineman that was not the priority.
Pick84 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
Steal is underselling it; Malachi Corley at Round 3, Pick 20 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick98 Rnd3 Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray in slot 98 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick119 Rnd4 Jarrian Jones
Jarrian Jones at the 119th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. The roster fit checks out.
Pick178 Rnd6 Jacob Cowing
Jacob Cowing at the 178th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick195 Rnd6 Gabe Hall
They reached into another round for Gabe Hall, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
