Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers robbed the room for Belton. Final grade: B.

You build a draft on nights like this. Anthony Belton had no business being available in slot 185, and the Steelers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

They are betting Thornton Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In pick No. 21 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick83 Rnd3 Kaleb Johnson
They barely believed it either: Kaleb Johnson still on the board at slot 83. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick123 Rnd4 Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish at pick 123 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick156 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A big swing on Dont'e Thornton Jr. at No. 156, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick185 Rnd6 Anthony Belton
Taking Anthony Belton in the 185th pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick229 Rnd7 Jack Nelson
Circle this one: Jack Nelson at Round 7, Pick 13 is a fall that decides a draft. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
