The Bears let Williams fall into their laps, and walked away with a C-.

The board owed the Bears one, and it paid up: Savion Williams, the No. 93 name on the board, sitting there at pick 235 like a gift left on the doorstep. Call it a C- and check back in two years.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. The veteran additions, Will Fries chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
