Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall

FutureB-
The Steelers got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Steelers took Joe Milton III a full 80 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
On value alone, Orhorhoro makes the weekend a net positive.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and running back is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Quinyon Mitchell
In pick No. 25 they get a potential shutdown corner. A real need, handled.
Pick57
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
Nice patience on Payton Wilson, who had no business lasting to Round 2, Pick 25. The roster fit checks out.
Pick74
Rnd3
Ruke Orhorhoro
They barely believed it either: Ruke Orhorhoro still on the board at the Round 3 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick84
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
A tidy bit of business in pick 84, where Cooper Beebe graded well above the range. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick89
Rnd3
Xavier Legette
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Xavier Legette in the 89th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick97
Rnd3
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at No. 97 is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick99
Rnd3
Gabriel Murphy
Gabriel Murphy slipping to the 99th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick106
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
A wild overpay on Johnny Wilson in the Round 4 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick118
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
They liked Mohamed Kamara enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 118. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick119
Rnd4
Joe Milton III
They left a pile of value on the table to take Joe Milton III this early at pick No. 119. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick125
Rnd4
Jarrian Jones
A big swing on Jarrian Jones at No. 125, well ahead of any board in the building. It fills a real need, too.
Pick160
Rnd5
Mason McCormick
Mason McCormick in the 160th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick171
Rnd5
Luke McCaffrey
Nothing to complain about; Luke McCaffrey went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick182
Rnd6
Elijah Jones
Elijah Jones at Round 6, Pick 7 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick194
Rnd6
Dylan McMahon
Dylan McMahon in No. 194 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick198
Rnd6
Myles Murphy
They reached into another round for Myles Murphy, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick240
Rnd7
C.J. Hanson
C.J. Hanson at pick 240 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
