Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall C-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the 49ers for Singleton: C-.

You could see the war room lean forward. Nicholas Singleton at Round 7, Pick 5 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.

Griffith has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong.

That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.

If Abdul Carter and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In pick 13 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value.
Pick27 Rnd1 Josh Conerly Jr.
In pick No. 27 they get protection for the quarterback, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant at the 43rd pick is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick100 Rnd3 Gunnar Helm
Gunnar Helm in Round 3, Pick 36 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick112 Rnd4 Billy Bowman Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Billy Bowman Jr. at No. 112 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick137 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
Steal is underselling it; Smael Mondon Jr. at slot 137 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick186 Rnd6 Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim at the 186th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick221 Rnd7 Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton at the Round 7 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick230 Rnd7 Thor Griffith
They talked themselves into Thor Griffith at the 230th overall pick, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick249 Rnd7 Aydan White
They jumped the gun on Aydan White, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
