Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A-
ValueC NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA+
Nobody dealt better than the Patriots this weekend: A-.

The Patriots treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the Round 5 slot on Kamal Hadden a full 97 spots early.

That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The veteran additions, Jordan Davis chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, T'Vondre Sweat and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 T'Vondre Sweat
In the 28th overall pick they get a disruptive interior force. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick38 Rnd2 Brian Thomas Jr.
Brian Thomas Jr. at slot 38 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick66 Rnd3 Troy Franklin
They robbed the room for Troy Franklin here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick102 Rnd4 Audric Estime
A reach on Audric Estime in pick 102; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick139 Rnd5 Kamal Hadden
They reached a country mile for Kamal Hadden at pick No. 139, and the board is aghast. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick223 Rnd7 Bryson Nesbit
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Bryson Nesbit. It fills a real need, too.
