The Patriots treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the Round 5 slot on Jonathon Brooks a full 56 spots early. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

The Patriots clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
