The Patriots won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: A-.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Patriots took Raheim Sanders a full 45 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They will answer for taking defensive back early while interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots went begging.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Landing DeJean that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Bottom line, with J.J. McCarthy leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
