The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bills and Rice: B. When a board-topper like Brenden Rice slides to slot 99, you do not overthink it, and the Bills did not. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with linebacker the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Troy Franklin
In the 28th pick they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick61
Rnd2
Adisa Isaac
They took Adisa Isaac at par in Round 2, Pick 29, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick99
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
Taking Brenden Rice in the Round 3 slot is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick152
Rnd5
James Williams
The board had James Williams higher than the 152nd overall pick, and the safety fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick159
Rnd5
Khristian Boyd
They paid sticker price for Khristian Boyd in slot 159, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick162
Rnd5
Cam Hart
Cam Hart in No. 162 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick195
Rnd6
Isaiah Davis
Isaiah Davis at pick 195 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick197
Rnd6
Andru Phillips
A cornerback of that caliber at pick No. 197 is the definition of value, full stop. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick202
Rnd6
Kitan Oladapo
Circle this one: Kitan Oladapo at the Round 6 slot is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick206
Rnd6
Julian Pearl
Julian Pearl slid further than he should have, and slot 206 is lovely value for the OT-EDGE. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
Pick207
Rnd6
Andrew Raym
Good price on Andrew Raym in pick 207, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick234
Rnd7
De'Corian Clark
De'Corian Clark at the 234th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick246
Rnd7
Taulia Tagovailoa
By-the-book stuff, Taulia Tagovailoa at the 246th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
