Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA FutureB-
The Patriots answered their biggest question with Daniels. Grade: B.

The Patriots spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

Mitchell falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The cost of the Rouse reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

The trade work was a quiet net positive.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
By-the-book stuff, Jayden Daniels at pick No. 3 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick41 Rnd2 Brian Thomas Jr.
Nice patience on Brian Thomas Jr., who had no business lasting to pick 41. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick68 Rnd3 Quinyon Mitchell
Steal is underselling it; Quinyon Mitchell at the 68th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick88 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Value with a capital V on Cooper Beebe in Round 3, Pick 25, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick103 Rnd4 Marshawn Kneeland
Marshawn Kneeland at slot 103 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick139 Rnd5 Braelon Allen
They paid a round early for Braelon Allen in No. 139, more than the board wanted. It fills a real need, too.
Pick182 Rnd6 Christian Jones
They liked Christian Jones enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 6 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick219 Rnd6 Jared Wiley
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jared Wiley in the 219th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick224 Rnd7 Walter Rouse
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Walter Rouse well ahead of where he belonged. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick232 Rnd7 Brevyn Spann-Ford
A quiet steal in the Round 7 slot: Brevyn Spann-Ford for less than the market said. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
