Draft Grade — Bills
Overall C+
ValueB+ NeedB- TradesF FutureB-
The Bills let Newton fall into their laps, and walked away with a C+.

Thirty-one other rooms let Josh Newton slide, and the Bills were the ones holding the card at pick 159. Highway robbery.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through offensive lineman.

The cost of the Coker reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The Andrew Billings pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Cooper DeJean
In the 28th pick they get a potential shutdown corner, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Pick60 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
A slide stopped in Round 2, Pick 28, with Payton Wilson worth more than the price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick129 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott in pick 129 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick139 Rnd5 Ainias Smith
Ainias Smith in the 139th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick143 Rnd5 Johnny Wilson
They read the board right and Johnny Wilson was the payoff at slot 143. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick159 Rnd5 Josh Newton
A cornerback of that caliber at the Round 5 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick162 Rnd5 Isaiah Davis
Isaiah Davis in pick No. 162 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick198 Rnd6 Dwight McGlothern
Somehow Dwight McGlothern was still sitting there in No. 198, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick202 Rnd6 Keith Randolph Jr.
Keith Randolph Jr. at the 202nd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick206 Rnd6 Curtis Jacobs
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Curtis Jacobs at the 206th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick246 Rnd7 Jalen Coker
They jumped the gun on Jalen Coker, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
