The Bengals worked the phones like thieves and earned a B.

Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Bengals came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.

If Bell pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

The veteran additions, Justin Jefferson chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
