Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B+
ValueB
NeedB
TradesA+
FutureB+
The Seahawks left with their quarterback, and a B+ to match. The Seahawks spent the pick that matters most on Bo Nix, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Getting Wright where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Terrion Arnold
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick28
Rnd1
Bo Nix
In pick 28 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jermaine Burton
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jermaine Burton at the 58th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick60
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick78
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice in No. 78 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick81
Rnd3
Spencer Rattler
Spencer Rattler in the 81st overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick119
Rnd4
Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni at pick No. 119 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick138
Rnd5
James Williams
A clean, defensible pick in slot 138 with a little surplus value in James Williams. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick159
Rnd5
Braelon Allen
They paid sticker price for Braelon Allen in No. 159, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick194
Rnd6
Jaylen Wright
Circle this one: Jaylen Wright at pick 194 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick227
Rnd7
Christian Jones
You do not let an offensive lineman like Christian Jones reach pick No. 227 and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick233
Rnd7
De'Corian Clark
De'Corian Clark at Round 7, Pick 13 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick246
Rnd7
Phil Jurkovec
A premium they did not need to pay, Phil Jurkovec a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
