Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Seahawks let Winston Jr. fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

You build a draft on nights like this. Kevin Winston Jr. had no business being available in No. 137, and the Seahawks did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The Wilson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Armand Membou
In pick No. 18 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick50 Rnd2 Demetrius Knight Jr.
A premium they did not need to pay, Demetrius Knight Jr. a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick52 Rnd2 JT Tuimoloau
JT Tuimoloau at the 52nd overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick82 Rnd3 Savion Williams
They jumped the gun on Savion Williams, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick92 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
A conviction pick on Jared Wilson at Round 3, Pick 28 that the board grades a round light. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick137 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
They will replay Kevin Winston Jr. at No. 137 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick172 Rnd5 Ben Sauls
A quiet steal in pick 172: Ben Sauls for less than the market said. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick175 Rnd5 Willie Lampkin
Willie Lampkin in the 175th pick is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick223 Rnd7 Oronde Gadsden II
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Oronde Gadsden II in pick No. 223, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick234 Rnd7 Jay Higgins
Somehow Jay Higgins was still sitting there in the Round 7 slot, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
