Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall F
ValueC+ NeedB TradesF FutureD-
Dart is the plan now, and the Seahawks grade out a F.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Cobee Bryant in No. 137, a good 42 spots before the room expected him. The warnings were there, and the F is the bill.

So much rides on Jaxson Dart that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

On value alone, Gabriel makes the weekend a net positive. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

There is no soft landing here: they fought the board and left edge rusher open, and the grade is the bill.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In No. 10 they get a three-down runner at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick18 Rnd1 Jaxson Dart
In slot 18 they get a franchise quarterback, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
Pick23 Rnd1 Emeka Egbuka
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a true top target at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick25 Rnd1 Harold Fannin Jr.
In the 25th overall pick they get a mismatch in the passing game, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Grey Zabel
Grey Zabel at pick No. 36 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick70 Rnd3 Charles Grant
A wild overpay on Charles Grant in pick 70, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick82 Rnd3 Barrett Carter
They took Barrett Carter at par in slot 82, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick137 Rnd4 Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant at pick 137 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick173 Rnd5 Dillon Gabriel
Dillon Gabriel in No. 173 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Pick187 Rnd6 Jackson Slater
Jackson Slater at the 187th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick212 Rnd6 Clay Webb
Clay Webb in pick No. 212 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick236 Rnd7 Jordan Hancock
Circle this one: Jordan Hancock at the Round 7 slot is a fall that decides a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
