Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall C+
ValueD+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Eagles land in the muddy middle: C+.

Nobody else had Jordan Watkins anywhere near Round 5, Pick 30. The Eagles did, by 131 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

Jones Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.

Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

If Jared Ivey and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Jared Ivey
In the 32nd overall pick they get a premier pass rusher, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick64 Rnd2 Deone Walker
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Deone Walker well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick96 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
The board had Andrew Mukuba higher than the 96th pick, and the safety fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick134 Rnd4 Jacob Parrish
A slide stopped in No. 134, with Jacob Parrish worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick161 Rnd5 Riley Leonard
They will replay Riley Leonard at the Round 5 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick164 Rnd5 Emery Jones Jr.
Emery Jones Jr. in pick No. 164 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
Pick165 Rnd5 Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders at the 165th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick168 Rnd5 Jordan Watkins
Jordan Watkins at the 168th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
