This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Kade Pieper, the No. 45 name on the board, stolen at the 93rd pick.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Every board in the league had Jackson lower, and that gap is the story.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. It is not that Ferrell is a bad player; it is that the 49ers had louder needs to answer first.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
