The board owed the 49ers one, and it paid up: Malik Nabers, the No. 4 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 2 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

Jones has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

In pick No. 32 they get a security blanket over the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
