You build a draft on nights like this. Nicholas Singleton had no business being available in pick No. 186, and the 49ers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.

They will need Smith to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
