Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the 49ers.

There is reaching, and then there is Solomon Byrd at the 215th overall pick. The 49ers jumped the board by 57 and dared it to prove them wrong.

Landing Milton that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. The Kyle Pitts pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Adonai Mitchell
Adonai Mitchell in the 31st pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick63 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in No. 63 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick94 Rnd3 Andru Phillips
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Andru Phillips well ahead of where he belonged. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick98 Rnd3 Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten at slot 98 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick125 Rnd4 Christian Jones
A reach for Christian Jones in Round 4, Pick 25; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick132 Rnd4 AJ Barner
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for AJ Barner. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick176 Rnd6 Zion Tupuola-Fetui
Zion Tupuola-Fetui in the 176th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick209 Rnd6 Tyrice Knight
No drama and no debate, Tyrice Knight went about where he belonged in No. 209. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick214 Rnd6 Kendall Milton
They barely believed it either: Kendall Milton still on the board at Round 6, Pick 39. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick215 Rnd6 Solomon Byrd
They left a pile of value on the table to take Solomon Byrd this early at the Round 6 slot. The roster fit checks out.
Pick249 Rnd7 Sheridan Jones
They robbed the room for Sheridan Jones here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
