Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall C+
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureD
The 49ers landed square in the muddy middle: C+.

The 49ers torched the value chart for Zion Tupuola-Fetui, taking him 39 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.

Rosemy-Jacksaint falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In the 31st pick they get a double-digit-sack hope at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick63 Rnd2 Max Melton
A conviction pick on Max Melton at the 63rd overall pick that the board grades a round light. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick94 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni at Round 3, Pick 31 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick119 Rnd4 Javon Foster
They paid sticker price for Javon Foster in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick124 Rnd4 Christian Jones
Christian Jones at pick 124 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick131 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
Nothing to complain about; Isaac Guerendo went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick176 Rnd6 Zion Tupuola-Fetui
Zion Tupuola-Fetui at the Round 6 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick211 Rnd6 Edefuan Ulofoshio
They talked themselves into Edefuan Ulofoshio at pick No. 211, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick215 Rnd6 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Somehow Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint was still sitting there in Round 6, Pick 40, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick251 Rnd7 Nick Gargiulo
Value said wait; Nick Gargiulo in the 251st pick says they were not listening. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
