Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureC+
Nobody dealt better than the Seahawks this weekend: B.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Seahawks would have aced it. Jordan Burch at the 54th overall pick is 41 spots clear of where he belonged.

However the rest shakes out, Dotson at that price is a win they earned. The phones were where this weekend was really won.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Josh Simmons
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Josh Simmons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick27 Rnd1 Tyler Booker
In pick 27 they get a building block for the line, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick48 Rnd2 Tre Harris
A straight-up fair deal on Tre Harris at slot 48, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick54 Rnd2 Jordan Burch
Jordan Burch at the Round 2 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick82 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jared Wilson well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick128 Rnd4 Tyler Shough
A premium they did not need to pay, Tyler Shough a notch or two before his time. It fills a real need, too.
Pick137 Rnd4 Jaylin Noel
Jaylin Noel in slot 137 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick160 Rnd5 Tahj Brooks
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Tahj Brooks in pick No. 160, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick173 Rnd5 Mello Dotson
A cornerback of that caliber at Round 5, Pick 34 is the definition of value, full stop. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick212 Rnd6 Cam Jackson
Cam Jackson in No. 212 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick236 Rnd7 Ja'Corey Brooks
A tidy bit of business in pick 236, where Ja'Corey Brooks graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
