Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall C+
ValueC+ NeedC TradesB- FutureB-
The jury is out on the Chiefs. For now, C+.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Chiefs reached some 31 spots for Andrew Sprague, and value like that does not grow back. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.

The Neal Jr. steal is the beam this whole class leans on. It is not that Marsh is a bad player; it is that the Chiefs had louder needs to answer first. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back.

They went 3 of 5 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Nick Marsh
Of all the spots to shop, they chose wide receiver. Nick Marsh in the 31st overall pick leaves running back and edge rusher for later.
Pick63 Rnd2 Andrew Sprague
Andrew Sprague at pick No. 63 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick73 Rnd3 Vicari Swain
They bypassed pressing needs at running back and edge rusher to take Vicari Swain, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Pick95 Rnd3 Terrance Carter Jr.
They went early on Terrance Carter Jr. in slot 95, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick147 Rnd5 Marcus Neal Jr.
Marcus Neal Jr. in No. 147 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
Pick168 Rnd5 Nicholas Rodriguez
Nicholas Rodriguez in the 168th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick176 Rnd5 Cayden Lee
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cayden Lee in pick No. 176, miles early. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick205 Rnd6 Jayden Bellamy
Jayden Bellamy is a better player than No. 205 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The roster reasoning here is anyone's guess.
Pick210 Rnd6 Coen Echols
Coen Echols at Round 6, Pick 32 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick255 Rnd7 Elinneus Davis
No drama and no debate, Elinneus Davis went about where he belonged in slot 255. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick257 Rnd7 Noah Fifita
By-the-book stuff, Noah Fifita at the Round 7 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
