Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Commanders: B.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Commanders reached some 45 spots for Oluwafemi Oladejo, and value like that does not grow back.

The Emmanwori value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Shavon Revel Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick61 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Nick Emmanwori in the 61st overall pick, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick95 Rnd3 Oluwafemi Oladejo
They reached a country mile for Oluwafemi Oladejo at slot 95, and the board is aghast. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick128 Rnd4 Brashard Smith
A straight-up fair deal on Brashard Smith at pick 128, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick133 Rnd4 Nick Nash
They paid up for Nick Nash at pick No. 133 when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick205 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They robbed the room for Dont'e Thornton Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick226 Rnd7 Carson Vinson
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Carson Vinson. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick245 Rnd7 Tonka Hemingway
They paid a round early for Tonka Hemingway in pick 245, more than the board wanted. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick251 Rnd7 Jalen Travis
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jalen Travis well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
