jj3325 DRAFTING FOR THEPackers

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Packers. The tape said wait; the Packers did not. John Emery Jr. went at pick 253, a good 78 picks before the board was ready. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Jones. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Bullock pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots still on the board.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Quinyon Mitchell
Quinyon Mitchell at No. 32 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick41
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Edgerrin Cooper. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick57
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
Tyler Nubin at slot 57 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick64
Rnd2
Calen Bullock
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Calen Bullock while clear needs at edge rusher, quarterback and other spots sat open.
Pick88
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Christian Mahogany at the 88th overall pick is the proof. It fills a real need, too.
Pick91
Rnd3
Javon Solomon
A want over a need in pick No. 91: Javon Solomon adds an OLB-EDGE while edge rusher, quarterback and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick125
Rnd4
Will Shipley
Will Shipley at the 125th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick135
Rnd4
Justin Rogers
A wild overpay on Justin Rogers in pick 135, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick203
Rnd6
Omar Speights
They took Omar Speights at par in the 203rd pick, which is nothing to complain about. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick217
Rnd6
Christian Jones
Christian Jones at slot 217 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick219
Rnd6
Dwight McGlothern
Value said wait; Dwight McGlothern in No. 219 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick246
Rnd7
Al Blades Jr.
Al Blades Jr. at pick No. 246 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick253
Rnd7
John Emery Jr.
A big swing on John Emery Jr. at Round 7, Pick 33, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
