Draft Grade — Packers
Overall

FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Packers, and a B- to prove it. The Packers clearly saw something nobody else did in Dwight McGlothern, taking him 38 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
Getting Rice where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Liufau pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback and tight end still on the board.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a sticky cover corner, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
Tyler Nubin at pick 41 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick57
Rnd2
Junior Colson
A big swing on Junior Colson at pick No. 57, well ahead of any board in the building. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick88
Rnd3
McKinnley Jackson
No drama and no debate, McKinnley Jackson went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick90
Rnd3
Marist Liufau
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback and tight end to take Marist Liufau, a linebacker that was not the priority.
Pick91
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice at the 91st pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick125
Rnd4
Javon Foster
No edge and no loss on Javon Foster in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick133
Rnd4
James Williams
They zigged when the board said zag, taking James Williams at safety with quarterback and tight end open.
Pick135
Rnd4
Jaylen Wright
Jaylen Wright in pick No. 135 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick203
Rnd6
Jawhar Jordan
A straight-up fair deal on Jawhar Jordan at No. 203, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick217
Rnd6
Myles Jones
A tidy little value on Myles Jones in pick 217, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick219
Rnd6
Dwight McGlothern
They reached a country mile for Dwight McGlothern at slot 219, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick246
Rnd7
Xavier Thomas
A reach for Xavier Thomas in the 246th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
