Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesD FutureA+
Daniels is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a B-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Reaching for Powers-Johnson left real value on the table behind him. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Bishop.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In the Round 1 slot they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick19 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In pick No. 19 they get a long-term starter on the line, reach and all. A real need, handled.
Pick40 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
A straight-up fair deal on Xavier Legette at the 40th pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick53 Rnd2 Bralen Trice
A reach on Bralen Trice in Round 2, Pick 21; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick75 Rnd3 Michael Hall Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Michael Hall Jr. at the 75th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick115 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop in pick 115 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick122 Rnd4 Theo Johnson
They paid sticker price for Theo Johnson in No. 122, and that is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick155 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
They did well to land Luke McCaffrey in slot 155, just ahead of his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick162 Rnd5 Braiden McGregor
A premium they did not need to pay, Braiden McGregor a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
