The Broncos bet the future on McCarthy. The board says D-.

The phones were a trap the Broncos kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.

The whole projection now runs through J.J. McCarthy; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Torrence. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, linebacker very much included.
