You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Seahawks did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.

They have staked the next five years on Caleb Williams, which is the only story that really matters here. Every board in the league had Tagovailoa lower, and that gap is the story. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Trotter Jr..

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
