Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA- FutureB-
The Bears bet the future on Williams. The board says B.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. No fireworks, but a solid B.

They are betting Solomon proves the room right and everyone else wrong. On value alone, Beebe makes the weekend a net positive.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. With edge rusher, running back and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on OLB-EDGE is the choice that costs them.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In pick No. 1 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Brian Thomas Jr.
Brian Thomas Jr. slipping to the Round 2 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick40 Rnd2 Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske at Round 2, Pick 8 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick46 Rnd2 Michael Hall Jr.
A big swing on Michael Hall Jr. at the 46th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick75 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in the 75th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick78 Rnd3 Javon Solomon
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went OLB-EDGE with Javon Solomon while clear needs at edge rusher, running back and other spots sat open.
Pick122 Rnd4 Elijah Jones
Elijah Jones at pick 122 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick222 Rnd7 Ryan Flournoy
Ryan Flournoy in No. 222 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
