Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B

Banks Jr. should have been long gone. The Steelers pounced, and earned a B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Steelers were there to profit. Kelvin Banks Jr., the No. 8 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 3, Pick 23. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Denzel Burke
In pick 24 they get an island corner. A real need, handled.
Pick55 Rnd2 Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis in the 55th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick87 Rnd3 Kelvin Banks Jr.
Circle this one: Kelvin Banks Jr. at Round 3, Pick 23 is a fall that decides a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick88 Rnd3 Nic Scourton
Nic Scourton at slot 88 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick119 Rnd4 Collin Oliver
They let Collin Oliver come to them and pounced at the 119th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick150 Rnd5 Aubrey Burks
Aubrey Burks at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick151 Rnd5 T.J. Sanders
T.J. Sanders in pick No. 151 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick181 Rnd6 Bru McCoy
Bru McCoy at No. 181 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick215 Rnd7 Will Sheppard
Good price on Will Sheppard in pick 215, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
