The Steelers cashed the board's mistake on Moore: B-.

You could see the war room lean forward. Malachi Moore at the 156th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.

The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They are betting Pierce proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick49 Rnd2 Trey Amos
A straight-up fair deal on Trey Amos at the 49th pick, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick83 Rnd3 Jalen Milroe
A reach for Jalen Milroe in pick 83; a little patience would have been rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick102 Rnd3 Savion Williams
A quiet steal in the 102nd overall pick: Savion Williams for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick119 Rnd4 Kobe King
By-the-book stuff, Kobe King at Round 4, Pick 17 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick123 Rnd4 Hollin Pierce
They paid a round early for Hollin Pierce in slot 123, more than the board wanted. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick153 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
They took Bhayshul Tuten at par in No. 153, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick156 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
A safety of that caliber at the Round 5 slot is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick185 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in pick No. 185 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
Pick229 Rnd7 Bilhal Kone
Bilhal Kone in the 229th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
