Draft Grade — Steelers

McGlothern should have been long gone. The Steelers pounced, and earned a B-.

The needs board said one thing and the Steelers did another, using slot 51 on Zach Frazier while quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots waited.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. McGlothern at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

The Pritchett pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In pick 20 they get a long-term starter on the line. Need was not the driver here.
Pick51 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
A want over a need in No. 51: Zach Frazier adds an offensive lineman while quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick84 Rnd3 Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at the 84th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick118 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop slid further than he should have, and the Round 4 slot is lovely value for the safety. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick119 Rnd4 Nehemiah Pritchett
They went early on Nehemiah Pritchett in slot 119, and the value did not follow. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick194 Rnd6 Dwight McGlothern
Taking Dwight McGlothern in the 194th pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
