The Steelers drew a line under the quarterback search with Penix Jr.: D-.

The phones were a trap the Steelers kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.

So much rides on Michael Penix Jr. that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The Mahogany pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots still on the board.

They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Travis has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
