Overall C-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Steelers to a C-.

Somebody took the Steelers to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. A mixed bag that lands at C-.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Ransom value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They will need Shough to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Hit on Kenneth Grant and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In the 21st overall pick they get an anchor for the defensive front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick45 Rnd2 Derrick Harmon
Derrick Harmon slipping to the Round 2 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick86 Rnd3 Gunnar Helm
Gunnar Helm in the 86th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick117 Rnd4 Tyler Shough
Tyler Shough at Round 4, Pick 15 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick123 Rnd4 Lathan Ransom
They will replay Lathan Ransom at pick 123 for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick156 Rnd5 Ty Robinson
They paid up for Ty Robinson at pick No. 156 when waiting would have done the job. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick185 Rnd6 Jaydon Blue
Value with a capital V on Jaydon Blue in slot 185, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick229 Rnd7 Phil Mafah
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Phil Mafah in No. 229. A need, and now a little less of one.
