The Steelers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Marcus Dumervil at No. 242 regardless, 76 picks early. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

Getting Fairchild where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
