Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Steelers: B-.

For all the boxes ticked, the Steelers skipped the loudest one: interior defensive lineman is exactly as bare as it was.

King has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

A fair-value weekend of trading, no edge to be found.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In No. 20 they get a long-term starter on the line, though they paid up to get him. Need was not the driver here.
Pick35 Rnd2 J.J. McCarthy
Nothing to complain about; J.J. McCarthy went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick120 Rnd4 Ainias Smith
The board had cheaper options than Ainias Smith at Round 4, Pick 20, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick121 Rnd4 Kalen King
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kalen King well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
Pick197 Rnd6 Jaylan Ford
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylan Ford. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick245 Rnd7 LaDarius Henderson
They took LaDarius Henderson at par in pick 245, which is nothing to complain about. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick250 Rnd7 Jalen Coker
They paid up for Jalen Coker at the 250th pick when waiting would have done the job. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
