Good, not great, for the Steelers: B-.

Hard to follow the map here. The Steelers bypassed safety, edge rusher and other spots to take Zach Frazier at slot 51, a spot they had covered. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up. Frazier has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

They went 4 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In pick No. 20 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick51 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
A curious use of Round 2, Pick 19. Safety, edge rusher and other spots needed the pick; an offensive lineman in Zach Frazier did not.
Pick84 Rnd3 Caelen Carson
They liked Caelen Carson enough to skip the value, taking him in the 84th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick119 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
A premium they did not need to pay, Johnny Wilson a notch or two before his time. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick120 Rnd4 Tyler Davis
No drama and no debate, Tyler Davis went about where he belonged in pick 120. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick195 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III in the 195th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick240 Rnd7 Jordan Whittington
They took Jordan Whittington at par in the Round 7 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
