Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Steelers spent the 84th overall pick on Blake Fisher, a name most had 35 spots down the list. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Spending an early pick on offensive lineman with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. That Sainristil pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the 20th pick they get an anchor for the offensive line, though they paid up to get him. More want than need.
Pick51 Rnd2 Jermaine Burton
Jermaine Burton in No. 51 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick84 Rnd3 Blake Fisher
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending pick No. 84 on Blake Fisher with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots unsolved.
Pick98 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
You do not let a cornerback like Mike Sainristil reach pick 98 and blink. They did not. The roster fit checks out.
Pick119 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
A slide stopped in the Round 4 slot, with Cole Bishop worth more than the price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick178 Rnd6 Khristian Boyd
A straight-up fair deal on Khristian Boyd at the 178th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick195 Rnd6 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
