Draft Grade — Seahawks

FutureD
Grand theft in the 194th overall pick: the Seahawks steal Smith-Wade and grade out a B-. Whoever sat across the table from the Seahawks should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
However the rest shakes out, Smith-Wade at that price is a win they earned. They will need Sweat to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Jordan Morgan
In pick No. 32 they get a cornerstone up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick35
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
A swing that ignored the value entirely, T'Vondre Sweat well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
Pick78
Rnd3
McKinnley Jackson
McKinnley Jackson at slot 78 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick95
Rnd3
Marist Liufau
Value with a capital V on Marist Liufau in the 95th pick, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick105
Rnd4
Jamari Thrash
A slide stopped in the Round 4 slot, with Jamari Thrash worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick109
Rnd4
Tyrice Knight
Tyrice Knight in pick 109 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick119
Rnd4
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks slipping to the 119th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick133
Rnd4
Luke McCaffrey
A reach on Luke McCaffrey in the 133rd overall pick; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick151
Rnd5
Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper at pick No. 151 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick166
Rnd5
Joe Milton III
They paid sticker price for Joe Milton III in slot 166, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick188
Rnd6
Nathan Thomas
Nathan Thomas at No. 188 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick194
Rnd6
Chau Smith-Wade
Somehow Chau Smith-Wade was still sitting there in the Round 6 slot, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick224
Rnd7
Aki Ogunbiyi
Steal is underselling it; Aki Ogunbiyi at pick 224 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick227
Rnd7
Steele Chambers
Steele Chambers at Round 7, Pick 7 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick233
Rnd7
Josh Wallace
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Josh Wallace at pick No. 233 is the proof. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
