Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesC+ FutureA+
Good, not great, for the Cardinals: B.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Cardinals did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to quarterback, which was the need that mattered most.

On value alone, Jenkins makes the weekend a net positive. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In No. 19 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick27 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In pick No. 27 they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick35 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
They paid sticker price for Xavier Legette in the 35th pick, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick52 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing T'Vondre Sweat in the Round 2 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick66 Rnd3 Kris Jenkins
Kris Jenkins slipping to slot 66 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick72 Rnd3 Christian Haynes
They did well to land Christian Haynes in Round 3, Pick 8, just ahead of his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick76 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran at the 76th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick90 Rnd3 Caelen Carson
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Caelen Carson. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick99 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
By-the-book stuff, Christian Mahogany at No. 99 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick104 Rnd4 Mekhi Wingo
Mekhi Wingo in pick 104 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
