Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
D
ValueB-

FutureB-
The Bills cashed the board's mistake on Bertrand: D. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Bills, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Bertrand pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a matchup problem out wide. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick60
Rnd2
Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske at the 60th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick65
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick104
Rnd4
Maason Smith
They paid sticker price for Maason Smith in No. 104, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick134
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mohamed Kamara. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick144
Rnd5
Luke McCaffrey
A straight-up fair deal on Luke McCaffrey at slot 144, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick163
Rnd5
Malik Mustapha
No edge and no loss on Malik Mustapha in the 163rd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick189
Rnd6
Delmar Glaze
They took Delmar Glaze at par in the 189th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick204
Rnd6
Ro Torrence
They robbed the room for Ro Torrence here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick248
Rnd7
JD Bertrand
JD Bertrand at pick 248 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
