Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesC+ FutureB-
The Bills did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Bills did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to interior defensive lineman, which was the need that mattered most.

The McCormick pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They are betting Keegan proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The roster is better shaped than it was, with linebacker chief among the fixes.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In No. 28 they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick60 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper at slot 60 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick128 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 4 slot with a little surplus value in Johnny Wilson. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick134 Rnd4 Trevor Keegan
They liked Trevor Keegan enough to skip the value, taking him in the 134th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick144 Rnd5 Jalyx Hunt
A straight-up fair deal on Jalyx Hunt at pick 144, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick160 Rnd5 Mason McCormick
A slide stopped in Round 5, Pick 24, with Mason McCormick worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick163 Rnd5 Malik Mustapha
Malik Mustapha in pick No. 163 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick189 Rnd6 Tanor Bortolini
Tanor Bortolini at the 189th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
