Andras DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Seahawks let Shough fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-. When a board-topper like Tyler Shough slides to the Round 5 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Seahawks did not. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
Hawes has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Armand Membou
In the 18th pick they get a long-term starter on the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick50
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
They will replay Malaki Starks at pick 50 for years; that is how good the value is. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick52
Rnd2
Jack Bech
Jack Bech at No. 52 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick82
Rnd3
Jaylin Noel
They went early on Jaylin Noel in slot 82, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick92
Rnd3
Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke at Round 3, Pick 28 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick137
Rnd4
Darius Alexander
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Darius Alexander at pick No. 137 is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick172
Rnd5
Tyler Shough
The board fumbled Tyler Shough all the way to the 172nd overall pick, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick175
Rnd5
Jack Nelson
Good price on Jack Nelson in the Round 5 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick223
Rnd7
Jackson Hawes
Jackson Hawes at the 223rd pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick234
Rnd7
Clay Webb
Clay Webb at Round 7, Pick 18 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
