Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesB FutureB-
Maye is the Commanders' new face under center. Grade: B.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop.

That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Coker value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Drake Maye
They paid sticker price for Drake Maye in the 2nd pick, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick36 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
No edge and no loss on Jordan Morgan in the 36th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick40 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson at pick 40 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick67 Rnd3 Marshawn Kneeland
A premium they did not need to pay, Marshawn Kneeland a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick84 Rnd3 Patrick Paul
Patrick Paul at No. 84 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick100 Rnd3 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott in the Round 3 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick119 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
No drama and no debate, Johnny Wilson went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 19. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick139 Rnd5 Elijah Jones
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Elijah Jones. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick152 Rnd5 Tykee Smith
A tidy little value on Tykee Smith in slot 152, a step better than break-even. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick222 Rnd7 Jalen Coker
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jalen Coker at No. 222 is the proof. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
